Our county fair offers two shows in one.

YOUTH INANIMATE RULES

1. In Inanimate Departments Exhibitors may enter a total of 30 exhibits. This total is for all inanimate departments and divisions, in any combination.

 

2. Varieties must be included on the back of the exhibit entry card or on a separate attached 3X5 card.

 

3. Exhibitors must pre-register by date set. SAME DAY REGISTRATION IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

 

4. Exhibitors who are unable to enter their project on the designated day may have project(s) entered by someone else. The following rules will apply: 1) Exhibitor will write a report telling the Judge how he/she make the project. 2) What the exhibitor learned. 3) Exhibitor must sign the report confirming it to be his/her own work.

 

5. All placing and awards will be given at the judge’s discretion. Each section is given 1st -5 th place. The 1 st place winners in each will then be further judged for a Trophy, Reserve Rosette, and Honorable mention rosette that will be awarded for each department, among the winners of each section of that department.

 

6. NO projects to leave building before release day.

 

7. NO parents at judging table while being judged.

 

8. THE YOUTH INANIMATE DIVISION is open to youth ages 5-19 as of January 1st the current fair year. The overall objectives of these projects and exhibits are as follows:

                        1. Exhibit developmental skills and progression.

                        2. Exhibit technique and creative skills.

                        3. Exhibit appreciation of process and product.

                        4. One article per class is to be exhibited unless otherwise stipulated.

                        5. No exhibit may bear any evidence of previous grading or judging

                        6. Successive years must exhibit progression in skills and knowledge.

                        7. Each section is given 1st -5th place ribbons.

                        8. The Inanimate Explorer class is open to 5-6 year old youth as an educational experience. They will participate in a                                  non-competitive inanimate event and participation ribbons will be awarded.

                                                                                    ADULT INANIMATE / OPEN COMMUNITY ARTS
1.The Adult Inanimate Division is open to adults age 20 and older as January 1st of this year. Open youth is open to youth 7-19 not registered in a current fair club.

 

2. All persons are invited to submit entries in the Muskegon County Fair. When registering, persons 20 & over are to put the letter "A" after class number.

 

3. Exhibitor does not have to live in Muskegon County to enter in the Muskegon County Fair.

 

4. Entry and release times for open classes will be in the weekly schedule.

 

5. All work exhibited must be made by the exhibitor.

 

6. Only one entry can be made in each class per person.

 

7. All articles must be finished in order to receive prizes unless deemed worthy by the judge.

 

8. Articles having no competition will not receive prizes unless deemed worthy by the judge.

9. Any article objectionable in any way will be disqualified from competition. The decision to reject any article will be made by the superintendent.


10. All exhibits must be on display throughout exhibition time or awards may be forfeited. Decisions of the Fair Management will be final.


11. Rules listed with division or class will be considered a part of these exhibitors’ rules and may supersede above rules.


12. Exhibitors will assume all risks for their exhibits. Every precaution will be taken to insure safety and protection. But no responsibility by any employee, officer, group, or organization will be assumed. Superintendent must clear early release on valuable items.


13. The purpose of this fair is to recognize and reward quality.


14. Decisions of the judge will be final.

15. Exhibitors will not be allowed to remove entries from the display areas, assistants are provided for that purpose.

​

16. Each Division is judged per section. Only exception if 4 or more exhibits in any one class. Then that class will be judged on its own.
