YOUTH RABBIT

  1. All rabbits must be pre-registered by the June 15th deadline on Fair Entry and pay $15 fee.

  2. All exhibitors must email the superintendent, no later than June 15, to confirm all entries made. You may either email the registration receipt OR type out your entries.

  3. All rabbits must have a permanent legible tattoo in their left ear prior to check-in. Any rabbits not tattooed will not be accepted for check-in.

  4. Only the exhibitor may show his/her rabbit in breed class. Any show day conflicts must be reported to the superintendent by Monday of fair week.

  5. Rabbits must be healthy and disease free. Any rabbit showing signs of disease/sickness/parasites will be removed from the grounds or not allowed to enter the barn.

  6. The exhibitor must provide all food and corresponding dishes. No feed/hay/supplements/carry cages/grooming tables/stands may be stored in the rabbit barn.

  7. Exhibitors are responsible for daily feeding, watering, cleaning the animals/cages, and maintaining any club exhibits or decorations. Decorations that are torn/falling apart/found on the ground will be disposed of.

  8. Decorations may not impede the ability to get in the cage or hang in the cage for the animals to chew on.

  9. Judging classes will be posted by Monday of fair week. All rabbits will be entered according to their designated breed and sorted by the superintendents.

  10. Exhibitors may show one rabbit per fur class (i.e., one rabbit in Rex Fur, Satin Fur, Angora Wool and Normal Fur), but exhibitors may NOT have two or more rabbits in each class.

  11. All scheduling conflicts must be reported to the superintendent no later than Monday of the fair week.

  12. The rabbit barn will be closed during the youth rabbit show. No adults other than the Superintendents, club leaders or judges are allowed in the show area and barn during the show unless they assist a younger exhibitor to bring up rabbit(s).

  13. Showmanship scorecards will be handed out during animal check out only! No exceptions!

  14. An exhibitor may show up to (6) six rabbits, including your showmanship rabbit, and a market rabbit/meat pen in the entire show.

  15. Cage sizes are at the discretion of the superintendent.

  16. Club Herd is to be (3) three rabbits from (3) three members of that Club. Sign up for club herd will be posted during fair week with the deadline up to the class being called. Please also see rule #4.

  17. In case of accident, disease, or injury, a rabbit of equal quality may be exchanged at the request of the club leader or parent with final approval from the Superintendent. Substitutions must be requested, in writing (email), and approved no later than July 1 and recorded with the Superintendent. No changes the week of fair/upon animal entry.

  18. Showmanship is required for all exhibitors to be able to show in any division of rabbit.

  19. All Exhibitors, or a representative of the club, are required to help set up and take down barns and must notify the superintendent who the representative is if they are unable to make it. Every exhibitor must serve a minimum of two (2) hours of barn duty during the fair. Club leaders and parents are responsible for ensuring that exhibitors stand their barn duty. All Explorers & Novice must have a Jr. /Sr. Teen or parent with them while on barn duty. If an exhibitor does not complete their required barn duty, they will not qualify to show for the following year’s fair.

  20. No rabbit will enter the barn before being checked for: health, tattoo, gender, and class.

  21. All rabbits must be checked out by superintendent or assistant once the area is cleaned. They will check tattoos, buyer slips, and area cleaned.

  22. Each rabbit exhibitor must complete an informational poster to be turned in at check-in. No Poster/No Show. Criteria for the poster will be handed out by the division superintendent/assistant at the March Club Leaders meeting for leaders to distribute to those showing in rabbit in their club.

  23. All Market, Fur and Breed Classes will be guided by the latest ARBA Standards of Perfection and must meet minimum weight of standard.

  24. Rabbits must be at least 3 months of age and meet the minimum weight requirements of the standard of perfection. Non-purebred rabbits must meet a healthy weight and/or the weight of the breed standard it shows the most characteristics of.

  25. Exhibitors will wear a white lab coat over their green MCYF shirt during showmanship. All hair must be neatly pulled back and secured away from their face. Only close-toed shoes may be worn in all rabbit classes. All jewelry must be removed unless it is medical alert in nature when exhibiting a rabbit. Neat, black dress pants or jeans without holes or rips (no leggings, sweatpants, or shorts) must be worn to all rabbit classes except for costume events. A green MCYF shirt OR a club shirt can be worn for hopping or skill-a-thon.

  26. Travel trophies are the exhibitor’s responsibility to get engraved. Engraving will be paid for by the Rabbit division. Any travel trophies must be returned to the division superintendent no later than June 1st of the current fair year.

  27. Any exhibitor choosing to NOT bring a rabbit or exhibit in the rabbit division that has already been entered/signed up must communicate that change to the superintendent no later than July 1.

  

AGE CLASSIFICATION FOR RABBITS:

Class 6 Rabbits:

JR Buck and JR Doe = 3-6 months

Intermediate Buck and Doe = 6-8 months

SR Buck & SR Doe = 8 months and older

Class 4 Rabbits:

SR Buck and SR Doe = 6 months and older

JR Buck and JR Doe = 3-6 months

 

No rabbit under the age of (3) months will be allowed to be entered in the fair.

 

 

EXPLORER/MENTOR RABBIT PROJECT- The Showmanship explorer class is open to 5–6-year-old youth as an educational experience. They will participate in a non-competitive showmanship event with participation ribbons being awarded. Explorers are eligible for fun costume, fun hopping, breed class and club herd with appropriate ribbons being awarded. Showmanship can be under the guidance of a Jr./Sr. Teen exhibitor age 13-19, Division superintendent, Division assistant superintendent, or designated Division assistant. Explorers are required to house their rabbits at fairgrounds during the week of fair.

SECTION 2: MARKET RABBITS

1st place meat/single/roaster/stewer receive rosettes; 1-5 Place Ribbon all divisions; Overall grand and reserve trophy.

1.   Market Rabbits may be obtained from any source the exhibitor chooses.

2.   Meat Pens do not have to be from the same Litter; however, they must all be of the same breed, variety, and meet all other requirements for market rabbits.

3.   Market Rabbits will be guided by the ARBA SOP but may be of mixed breed.

4.   Rabbit must receive an A or B rating to be eligible for livestock auction.

5.   All market rabbits will be sold at auction unless marked C rating during judging.

6.   All market rabbits must have a permanent, legible tattoo in their left ear.

7.   All Market Rabbits must be weighed in the presence of the rabbit/cavy superintendent and exhibitor during 

      Animal Entry.

8006        MEAT PENS, (Pen of 3) not over 10 weeks of age and 3 ½ to 5 ½ lbs. must be of the same variety breed and variety.

8007        SINGLE FRYER, (Pen of 1) under 10 weeks of age. Minimum weight of 3 ½ pounds. Maximum weight of 5 ½ pounds.

8008        ROASTERS, (Pen of 1) under 6 months of age. Minimum weight of 5 ½ pounds. Maximum weight of 9 pounds.

8009        STEWERS, (Pen of 1) must be 6 months of age and over. Minimum weight of 8 pounds. There is no maximum.

  3. No cavy will be housed at fair.

  4. Exhibitors may enter up to six (6) Cavy in total including your showmanship Cavy.

  5. All Cavy must be free of disease/parasite/sickness. Any Cavy exhibiting signs of illness will not be eligible to show.

  6. All Cavy exhibitors are required to do Showmanship to compete in any division of Cavy.

  7. Showmanship is required for all exhibitors to be able to show in any division of Cavy.

Hole/rip free neat black pants (dress pants, or BLACK jeans, no leggings/sweatpants/shorts) are to be worn for ALL Cavy classes except costumes. A green MCYF shirt OR a club shirt can be worn for all other classes.

9. Superintendent reserves the right to combine classes if there are not enough entries in a class.

11. Open class rabbits are $2.00 entry fee per rabbit entered. Entries must be paid in cash or local check only 1 hour prior to the show start time. Deadline for all entries is 1 hour before show start time.
